The Least of Them

Who are the least and what does this have to do with my faith in Christ?

When I started to think about the title of this blog, my thoughts went to Matthew and the Lord's judgment. In Matthew 25:31-46, The Lord gives a description of the reflection of the Father's face. "You see Me" . . .in the needy stranger, hungry, thirsty people, naked, those in prison and the sick, was told by Jesus to his disciples. The judgment of the Lord comes to all and the passing grade is how did we show the love of Christ into the lives of the hurting. You see the other part of this reflection is how Christ is shown back to others in your actions of love. As Christians we are the hands and feet of the Lord and as such we are to demonstrate His love to others in His name. In James we read about, faith without works is dead. This is not to say we are saved by our work, because faith doesn't come from anything else but belief, but rather we are to reflect Jesus in our lives, in our actions.
With this information at hand, how did you act today? Can you say that you touched someones life for Christ. We also read in James 2:16, if someone comes to us in need do you respond by "that's too bad, I will pray for you" or do you reach out give what is necessary to fill that need? You see this is when you tell someone about the love of Christ and the gift He gives. So often I have heard people say I never get a chance to talk about Jesus to anyone. Do you give a smile to others? Do you use kind words? Do you give time at a soup kitchen, not on a holiday? Do you send money to someone out of work and sign it Jesus? Do you sit and spend time with the person who has lost hope? Do you talk to people on your street? Do you reach out to special needs person? There are so many ways to reflect Christ into the lives of the hurting. Christianity has gotten a bad rap, not by the media, but by Christians themselves. We need to remember we are all the same, sinners saved only by the gift of salvation through belief in Jesus Christ. If the Jesus you are reflecting is one of damnation rather then the one of salvation, then it's time for a good long reflection of ourselves.

Father, Maker of all things, Author of this life, please give me insight as to how You want to be reflected through me. Let me hold no bitterness or envy towards others. Let me be humble and open to the needs of others. May these needs be met through me in Your Name, giving all the glory to You Lord, in Your Son's Holy Name of Jesus.
